SECTION 01.5 — WHAT WE PUT IN YOURS

WHAT'S INSIDE MATTERS.

Two products. Two different jobs. Both packed with media the other guys won't put in theirs — because it costs more, weighs more, and doesn't fit in a pretty box at Home Depot.

THE BLOCK

CATALYTIC CARBON BLOCK

Not granular. Not loose. A solid block of catalytic carbon — tighter pores, more surface area, longer contact time per drop. Goes after chlorine, chloramines, taste, odor, VOCs, and pharmaceuticals. The foundation.

STAGE 2

HOUSTON

NASA-DERIVED NANO CERAMIC FILTRATION

As in, Houston, we DO NOT have a water problem. NASA-derived nano ceramic filtration. We didn't invent it. We just put it under your sink. Removes bacteria, viruses, cysts, lead, chromium VI, pharmaceuticals, endotoxins, and particulates — everything RO does, plus more. Without wasting a drop.

Good enough for the Space Shuttle. Good enough for your kitchen.

THE TANK

83 LITERS OF MEDIA. 125 LBS. ONE BIG BED.

Most whole-house systems drop 10–15 liters of commodity carbon into a skinny 8-inch tank. We put 83 liters in a 13" × 54" tank. You'd need four of theirs to match one of ours. Our media alone weighs 125 pounds — their entire system ships at 51.

MEDIA 1 — THE WORKHORSE

BLACK IRISH

CATALYTIC CARBON — BY THE ARMLOAD

It's carbon. From Boston. Catalytic — the real stuff, not commodity GAC. Goes after chlorine, chloramines, taste, odor, THMs, tannins, phenols, and knocks down heavy metals. And it may address PFAS — we'd say more, but the lawyers get twitchy.

MEDIA 2 — THE ENFORCER

THE FLUX STAGE

ZINC-COPPER REDOX — ORP TO +900–950 mV

Not KDF. Never KDF. Our zinc-copper redox technology is the upgrade the industry never bothered to make. Blended into the bed with Black Irish — a proprietary blend that destroys organic contaminants, pharmaceutical residues, and microorganisms. No electricity. No cartridge. Chemistry works for free.

The big brands charge 2–3× for a third of the media and a guy at your kitchen table. You're paying for him.

A WORD FROM THE LAWYERS.

NSF certification costs tens of thousands per claim. The big brands pay it, then charge you for it. We didn't pay it — so legally, we can't tell you exactly what contaminant or what percentage of them these systems remove. What we can tell you: exactly what's inside, exactly how much, and exactly how long your water spends in contact with it. We don't pay for certifications — we buy better media, and more of it, than the guys who do.

SECTION 02.5 — A WORD ON HAHD WATER

HAHD WATER.

(That's "hard water." We're from Boston. We don't do R's.)

The hardest water in America lives in Texas and Arizona. We know — we moved here. Thirty-two years in Boston, where the water was dirty, did not prepare us for water that's twice as dirty and three times as hahd down here. This water will wreck your water heater and dishwasher in a matter of years. We can fix it — without a life sentence of weekly 40-pound salt bags.

LOOK FAMILIAR?

THE OLD WAY: SALT SOFTENERS

Buy a salt softener, and congratulations — you just signed up for a weekly gym membership you never wanted. Hauling bags from the store, down the stairs, into the brine tank. Forever. And your reward? Water that feels like you never quite rinsed off the soap. Slimy. Every shower, slightly haunted.

OUR WAY: SALT-FREE NAC

The Guru is a 4.5" × 20" big blue housing that runs salt-free NAC conditioning — anti-scale media that stops hard water from junking up your pipes and appliances. Bolts right onto The Tank's line. No brine tank. No bags. No slime. Replace the cartridge every 3 years. That's it.

NAC, NOT TAC.

One more thing, since nobody else will bring it up. Most US "salt-free" brands run a media called TAC. Ours is NAC. What's the difference? Similar physics, honestly. We can't tell you scientifically what's better about ours. We just feel the difference. That's all we need.

Here's what we can tell you: the majority of US "salt-free" brands use unnamed commodity TAC media from unnamed Chinese suppliers — and they won't tell you whose it is or where they get it. Ours is manufactured in Germany by Watch Water. Named media, named manufacturer, named country. That shouldn't be a flex. In this industry, it is.

REPLACEMENT PARTS & ADD-ONS

Bouncer cartridges, Mule filter sets, Flush regen kits, and shirts. Also — buying THE TANK? You can add THE GURU (salt-free conditioner) during checkout. Just saying.

SECTION 02 — THE DEAL

PROBABLY THE BEST, CHEAP.
THE REST IS ON YOU.

1

WE SHIP IT

The system shows up at your door. Commercial-grade tanks, valves, bypasses, instructions. Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

2

YOU INSTALL IT

Got hands and a weekend? The manual will walk you through it — it's public, read it before you buy. Don't want to? Find a plumber near you — the manual is all any plumber worth his salt is going to need.

3

THAT'S IT

No onboarding call. No account manager named Chad. You get clean water and we get back to work. Everybody wins.

SECTION 03 — THE MATH

WHY SO CHEAP?

The same commercial-grade filtration the fancy brands sell — maybe better. The difference? They charge you for the showroom, the sales team, the 1-800 number, and the guy who calls to "check in."

We fired all of that before we started. The price reflects the lack of support. You're welcome.

Bottom line: they sell you a Hyundai for the price of a Cadillac. We do the opposite.

SECTION 04 — THE NAME

"LOVE THAT DIRTY WATER"

We spent 32 years in Boston — a few of them living right on the Charles River. The river in the song. "Love that dirty water" wasn't a lyric to us; it was the view from the window. Then we moved to Austin, Texas, turned on the tap, and met a whole different kind of dirty. So we did what any reasonable New Englander would do: we started a company about it.

BOSTON ROOTS. TEXAS WATER.

SECTION 05 — QUESTIONS WE'LL ANSWER EXACTLY ONCE

Q&A

Everything below is also in the manual. Which is public. Which you should read.

Q.HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

A.Every system ships with a detailed instruction manual — and we put the whole thing online, free, before you buy. Most DIY'ers with basic tools will be just fine. And it's all any plumber worth his salt is going to need. (Yes, we know. No salt. The joke stays.)

Q.HOW DO I INSTALL THE MULE?

A.The Mule comes with everything most customers need to install it in a few minutes. It uses 3/8" line — which is what most undersink cold water lines are. Make sure everything is tight — adapters on The Mule, tanks screwed in snug in case they got knocked around in shipping. Then: have a bucket ready. Turn off the cold water under the sink. Unscrew the cold water line from the entry point. Screw the adapter from The Mule onto those threads. Attach the line you just took off onto the adapter on the other side of The Mule. That's it. You're done.

Q.WHAT IF I GET STUCK?

A.Read the manual again. It's a long afternoon's read, not 'War and Peace.' Tools, parts list, eleven steps, troubleshooting — it's all in there.

Q.CAN I CALL SOMEBODY?

A.You can call a plumber near you. That's the whole business model. We spent the phone-guy money on better filter media instead.

Q.CAN I AT LEAST EMAIL SOMEBODY?

A.Fine. readthemanual@nomoredirtywater.com. Fair warning: if the answer to your question is in the manual, you will not get a response. The address is the hint.

Q.WHAT IF IT SHOWS UP BROKEN?

A.Then we make it right. All equipment is inspected and tested before it ships — so if something arrives cracked, busted, or missing, that happened on the truck, not on our floor. Email us photos and your order number, we'll take a look, and we'll sort it out. 'No support' means we won't hold your hand through the install. It doesn't mean we'll take your money and leave you with a broken tank. We're cheap, not crooked.

Q.DO I NEED A PLUMBER?

A.If you're asking if you need one, you probably do. Review the install guide — or get a quote from a local plumber — before you buy. Either way, it's a weekend of work, not a kitchen remodel.

Q.IS IT REALLY COMMERCIAL GRADE?

A.Yes. Same class of tanks, valves, and media the big-ticket brands use. We just skipped the showroom, the polo shirts, and the markup.

Q.WILL IT COVER MY WHOLE HOUSE?

A.Up to 5 bathrooms, yes — that covers nearly every house in America. But bathroom counts are shorthand: what actually matters is how much water runs at once. A 5-bathroom house where nobody runs more than two showers at a time behaves like a 3-bathroom house. A 3-bathroom house running every shower plus the laundry behaves like a 6-bathroom one. Count the water, not the doors. And the less you run at once, the better it works — slower flow means more contact time in 83 liters of media. This thing is a beast. Running water like a hotel? This system may be undersized for you, and undersized filtration means water moving through the media faster than the media can work. We don't sell things that can't keep up. Congratulations on the big house. Go see AION WATER (aionwater.co) — the only other company doing filtration at this level, and they custom-build for big homes and estates. They even answer the phone. Takes all kinds.

Q.WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY TAKE OUT?

A.Legally? We can't say — we don't pay NSF tens of thousands per claim to certify it. We buy better media, and more of it, than the guys who do. What we can tell you is what the medias in the tank are built to do. Black Irish (catalytic carbon) goes after chlorine, chloramines, bad taste, color, and odor, trihalomethanes, humic substances, tannins and lignins, phenols, and knocks down heavy metals — arsenic, boron, bromides, chromium, copper, lead, mercury — and may reduce PFAS. The Flux Stage (zinc-copper redox at +900–950 mV ORP) destroys organic contaminants, pharmaceutical residues, and glyphosate; takes out Legionella, E. coli, and Salmonella; and neutralizes harmful microorganisms. That's the list. We're not going to read it to you over the phone.

Q.WHAT MAINTENANCE DOES IT NEED?

A.The Tank: two options. Do nothing and swap the media in 3–5 years. Or follow the included instructions and grab a $99 regen kit from us every 6 months to restore it to brand new. Your call — we're not going to check. The Mule: swap the filters once a year. The Guru (NAC conditioner): replace the cartridge every 3 years. No salt bags. Ever. Go enjoy your weekend.

Q.WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NAC AND TAC?

A.Similar physics. We can't tell you scientifically what's better about ours — we just feel the difference, and that's all we need. What we can tell you: most US 'salt-free' brands use unnamed commodity TAC media from unnamed Chinese suppliers, and they won't say whose it is or where they get it. Our NAC is manufactured in Germany by Watch Water. Named media, named manufacturer, named country. Ask the other guys who makes theirs. Enjoy the silence.

Q.WHAT'S WITH THE NAME?

A.We lived on the Charles River in Boston for years. 'Dirty Water' is the love song they wrote about it. Then we moved to Austin, met Texas hard water, and decided one dirty river was enough for a lifetime. The name honors the old water. The filter handles the new stuff.
